| This watercolor was painted on illustration board to obtain the desired vivid colors of the rocks, conifers and lichens. The huge granite boulder speckled with black minerals is typical of many areas of the Precambrian Shield of Northern Saskatchewan. It was carved out and striated by the retreating Continental Glacier of the last Ice Age. These rocks are among the oldest in the World. As a budding geologist I tramped over this terrain for many years to explore for ore deposits in the Shield, which covers a great part of Northern Canada. |
