This painting depicts red roses at sunset. The roses are painted with gouache to obtain an intense reddish hue.To obtain texture in the underlying foliage area, Japanese paper is collaged with acrylic and overpainted with acrylic paints.It has been hanging in my front hallway underneath a pot light for five years but it is time for it to grace a key wall of some other home.The digital framing simulates the actual framing with "pompano beach" top mat, "ice mauve" submat and burgundy metal frame (mine is mahogany and gold. It is also floating with deckled edges.)
