This scene depicts an abandoned farm with brilliant reflections from the setting sun. The reflections are strong because the Prairies are essentially flat and the sun's rays are nearly horizontal at this point. It is painted in so-called "Rembrandt" style comprising pure colors (i.e. yellow and orange), mid-valued shades, and darks with no white anywhere in the painting. As the painting is cool in color, the simulated framing is also cool: the top mat greyed green, the second mat is maroon and the frame is anodized black.
