This web page illustrates various painting approaches that I have tried or am currently experimenting with that do not fit exactly the mold of what I usually do. All painters go through a process whereby they try different methods, techniques, styles, color schemes, supports, mediums and even subjects until they decide what they want to do and what is marketable (only so many can fit under the bed). What greater thrill than for someone to admire your painting enough to buy it!
Most artists never stop learning but, as many will attest, it is difficult to market something different than what galleries and your clientele are used to. While attending a workshop some years ago, the story was told about a famous artist who was well known for his acrylics in semi-abstract style. Reluctantly his gallery accepted his representational watercolors at the artist's insistence. As it turned out the watercolors proved to be highly successful. You may find something you like here too!
